It is an ancient place with 17th Century houses on its village street, an early Danish cross in its churchyard, with the church itself of the 14th Century. On the southern side of the village are the extensive grounds of Elton Hall
Opening Times
The Hall is open from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm at May, late Spring and August Bank Holiday week-ends; and on Wednesdays in June and Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays in July and August.
The village itself has a church and school halls for its social events, a recreation ground and a rather attractively set cricket pitch.

The footpath from the lock leads to the village green and Middle Street with village store and Post Office.
